The Old Nick Theatre, Gainsborough, Alterations and Refurbishment

Gelder Ltd were appointed to carry out the internal and external alterations of this Grade II listed building. The works incorporated demolition of internal walls inclusive of cutting out two new openings supported by structural steelwork, removal of a pitched roof, construction of new room (cavity wall, steelwork, new timber flooring, etc.) inclusive of a slate roof in the alcove / courtyard of the existing building, new toilets, kitchen and dining facilities.

This contract included the renewal of all existing timber sash windows and ensured all new construction was in keeping with the existing style (under strict scouting of the conservation officer).

The contract required a professional attitude from all contractors and employees whilst on site undertaking the refurbishment. A considerable amount of time and effort was provided working with the client and familiarising ourselves with the history of the building (inclusive of a tour of the cells by our client).

All works were completed with a high level of Health and Safety focus within an 8 week period.
