New Builder's Merchants Jacksons Building Centre, Alford

Client: Jacksons Building Centre

Type of Contract: Traditional

Project Duration: 19 Weeks

Value: £800,000

Status: Completed

A major renovation and refurbishment project encompassing former railway buildings and warehouse. These dilapidated structures were transformed to provide a new sales area, offices, showroom displays and hire section, complemented with extensive external works.

The works to the existing structures were specifically aimed at preserving the original facades, whilst creating a modern, functional environment within. The main featured stone portico entrance was structurally propped using tubular scaffold with the need for counterbalance to allow the full repair to stone columns and arch whilst retaining the original structure.

The internal walls had previously been removed making the retained upper dividing walls and chimney stacks unsafe, requiring further internal propping and masonry repairs to ensure their full restoration Full co-ordination with the client at all times ensured their daily functions and operations were amply provided for.
