New Primary School, Witham St Hughs
Client: Lincolnshire County Council
Consultant: HBS
Value: £2,000,000
Type of Contract: Traditional
Project Duration: 52 Weeks
Completion Date: July 2006
The new primary school consists of seven new classrooms, hall, toilet areas and reception. The 1,122 square metre building is constructed using a timber frame with timber walls and partitioning. Externally the building is clad in Larch boarding and Sto render with the shallow pitched roof being covered in Sarnafil roof membrane.
The building is positioned to maximise use of sunlight and has solar panels, passive ventilation together with a rain water harvesting system and tarmac play ground area.
Works were carried out within operation facilities, therefore careful planning and liaison with the client was necessary in order to minimise disruption and ensure the highest standards of safety.
"Throughout the construction process, Gelder Group staff conducted themselves professionally and were very forthcoming with information when requested. The overall finish of the build was to a high standard and any snags were quickly remedied. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Gelder Group, and would invite them to tender for future works."
