Nuffield Hospital, Lincoln - Extensions & Alterations
Client: Nuffield Hospital
Architect: John Roberts Architects
Quantity Surveyor: John Peberdy Partnership
M & E Consultants: EDP Environmental Ltd
Value: £1,500,000
Alterations to the existing hospital building and the erection and completion of a single storey extension in a traditional construction. Installation of a new lift & lift shaft, major alterations to the existing theatres & improvements to the car park.
As with any hospital contract, a large proportion of the works included mechanical & electrical installations. Again, planning & consultation with our client was essential, especially when having to work within ‘live’ areas of the hospital and carrying out service shutdowns for M&E connections.
During the course of the contract temporary operating theatres were brought onto site to release the existing theatres for refurbishment. The programming of this element of works was critical to ensure that the hospitals operation programme was not disrupted.
Following the visit of the Health Care Commission, the newly refurbished theatres were handed back to our client which, in turn, released the final phase of the works which included the upgrading of the existing car park areas.
