RSS FeedEx Gelder Group Employee Playing Vital Role in Afghanistan
Ex Gelder Group Employee, Joe Ashbolt, has been deployed on a 9 month Tour of Duty in Afghanistan. Joe who worked for Gelder Group's Small Works and Maintenance Division for 18 months left to join the parachute regiment in January 2007, but remains good friends with many of the Division's personnel.
After completing the infamous 'P' company week in November 2007, Joe 'passed out' the following January and joined No 1 Battalion based at St. Athan, South Wales. Joe's posting is part of a Special Forces Support Group and all of his ex-colleagues are looking forward to his safe return.
Joe's employment at Gelder Group fell under the ultimate supervision of Construction Director, Dave Gladwin, who commented that 'we are all very proud of Joe's achievements; we wish him well in his current role and look forward to welcoming him home at the end of his tour'.
On the run up to Christmas, Gelder Group's Head office staff donated money into a charity box rather than sending Christmas cards to one another. It has been decided that this money will be donated to the 'Help for Heroes' charity, a cause very close to Joe's heart having lost or seen comrades and mates suffer severe injuries.
