RSS FeedIan Pickwell visits Hackthorn Primary School
Ian Pickwell, Health and Safety Manager for Gelder Group’s Major Contracts division offered to go into his grandson’s class to give a talk to the year, after being told about their latest project. His grandson’s class’s project was that they had to draw a plan of a house and then make their own house using a shoebox.
Ian showed them some plans of a house and drew one on the board showing the various stages from the foundation to the roof level, he also took in some building materials to help them understand better.
After the talk they dressed up in some safety helmets and hi-visibility jackets and safety glasses which they really enjoyed.
The teachers Mrs. Hobbins and Mrs. Hartley said, “the children had a great time and learnt a lot”. To thank Ian, he received a lovely thank you card made by all the children.
