RSS FeedGelder Group Football Team Win First Game!
The Gelder 5-a-side team have notched their first victory against Streets Accountants. It was a hard thought match with Streets opening the scoring in the first 5 minutes of the game. This seemed to jolt the Gelder lads as they soon equalised with a cool finish from Rob Cavill. Just before the half way mark Gelder’s seem to be cruising at 4 - 2 with goals from Adam Ellwood and Dan Gillyett, however, with tired legs and a resurgent Streets saw the game level at 4 - 4, with everything to play for. Only a string of brilliant saves from James Pickering prevented the Gelder Team conceding further goals. Again with a never say die attitude the Gelder Team began passing the ball with a lot more conviction and with goals from Adam Ellwood and Rob Cavill the score quickly went to 7 - 4 before Streets pulled a late goal back to make the final score 7 - 5. Overall it was a great team effort with notable performances from Arran Fullwood and Jason Fountain who have both not played competitively for a long time.
The next game will be on Monday 10th December at 6.00 p.m at The Deans Centre against Lincoln College, all support most welcome.
