Gelder Group plays a big part in National Apprenticeship Week 2013
National Apprenticeship Week 2013 got off to an exciting start last Monday at the Drill Hall in Lincoln welcoming members of the public to come and find out more about apprenticeships and what the Gelder Group has to offer. Daily events took place all week at the Gelder Group’s Training Academy such as ‘Have a go at Gardening’, ‘Have a go at Brickwork’ and a Recycling Waste Management Apprenticeship Course. All of these activities were conducted by Gelder Apprentices and were aimed to give an insight into what it is really like to be an apprentice.
On Friday our Training Academy held the closing ceremony of the week for all attendees to come and be rewarded for their participation in the week’s events. A number of our apprentices got up and spoke about their own apprenticeship journey in front of guest speaker Karl McCartney MP who also handed out certificates and prizes alongside Steve Gelder MBE, Managing Director.
Commenting on the week Group Training Manager Mike Johnson MBE said “this was fantastic afternoon, we got superb feedback and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We were very proud to showcase the young talent we have in this organisation”.
The final part of the ceremony was the unveiling of a piece of brickwork completed by Apprentice Bricklayer, Connor Horgan which can be seen below, this work was the final piece needed for completion of Connor’s Level 3 Apprenticeship.
