Steve Gelder announced as 2013 City & Guilds Prince Philip Medal Winner
Gelder Group Managing Director Steve Gelder has been announced as this year’s City & Guilds Prince Philip Medal Winner. He received the medal from HRH The Princess Royal at Buckingham Palace at the annual Prince Philip Medal Ceremony.
On the award Steve Comments “‘I’m very humbled and honoured to receive the Prince Philip Medal, and I do so on behalf of all the fantastic apprentices that have had such a positive influence on the Gelder Group during the past 25 years. I now intend to use my profile to encourage other employers to think long term, to invest in apprentices and to provide young, energetic people the opportunity to develop in the workplace".
The Prince Philip Medal was 1st awarded in 1962 and was presented as a personal gift from HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. The Prince Philip medal is awarded to people who have displayed outstanding individual achievement in the area of science, technology and industrial development, or have demonstrated proficiency in workplace skills
Steve has agreed to take on the role of “City & Guilds Apprentice Ambassador” and has been described by Chris Jones, CEO and Director General of City & Guilds as “An inspiration to City & Guilds and to other employees”
