500 People turn out for Gelder Group's 25 Years Celebrations
400 suppliers, friends and customers along with 100 Gelder Group staff celebrated, in style, 25 years of continued growth and investment in the local area with a 4th July marquee reception, in which all nine company divisions and six Group companies displayed their products.
The highlight of the day was the groups apprentice awards prior to which the Gelder Groups virtual school children gave a presentation that left few without a tear in their eye.
Gelder Group’s virtual school takes in kids that have been expelled from all schools, only when pretty much everyone else has given up on them are they admitted in to the company’s school. The results have been phenomenal with 100% of attendees being re-integrated back in to the main stream education or finding employment.
At 6pm group Managing Director round up the day with a vote of thanks to everyone who attended and presented cheques totaling £30,518.86 to Gelder Group Charities Alzheimer’s and St Barnabas and handed out 15, 20 and 25 years, long service awards.
On the day managing director Steve Gelder commented “We now have sales of £140k every working day, this is more than our first full years revenue back in 1988. In June we took in £6.5m of new orders, equivalent to our first 6.5 years of trading. We are now one of the largest employers within the region. We are proud of our achievements, proud of the fact that we have trained over 250 apprentices, proud of our Corporate Social Responsibility policies and extremely proud of our virtual school kids, tomorrow however this all counts for nothing as we get back on the front foot and focus on the next 25 years”
