An increased uptake of apprenticeships by young people in Lincolnshire

Danielle Skayman and Richard Appleton interviewed by Leigh MilnerWe were pleased to welcome BBC Radio Lincolnshire to Gelder Group today as part of a feature on today's Breakfast programme. The article featured the increased uptake of Apprenticeships in the county. Broadcast journalist Leigh Milner interviewed Insurance Division Claims Coordinator Apprentice Danielle Skayman and GET Work Based Learning Manager Richard Appleton for their perspectives on the scheme.

Danielle was asked how and why she chose an apprenticeship and how she achieved her placement. She described how she applied for the job role and was interviewed and went on to be asked as to how the apprenticeship works. Danielle commented,

With Gelders you come here and do your training, but you also grow into a job role – there is no end.

Danielle went on to talk about how her role is so varied and will lead into a full time job role – hopefully!

Richard talked about the idea of the apprenticeship scheme is a real part of the recruitment process for Gelder Group as well as the variety of apprenticeships on offer within the organisation and how it can enable people on the scheme to build real life employment skills.

Today's apprentice is tomorrow's potential team leader or manager

He finally commented that there were definite full time employment possibilities attached to every apprenticeship placement the group offer.
