Gelder, Merlin & Legal and General Work Together on New Waste Strategy

Legal and General Insurance, Merlin Contractor Management and Gelder Group have agreed to work closely together to provide data on waste created on building insurance claims for Legal and General.

Initially, Gelder Group will provide Merlin / L&G with data on waste created on all its 2010 insurance building claims handled by the Group, these figures will then be extrapolated to give a national picture.

In 2011 Gelder Group, via its Greentech waste recycling operations Greentech, will separate Legal and Generals waste and provide them and Merlin with data on the different streams created including information on waste sent to landfill and waste recycled.

Commenting on the project Gelder Group Managing Director Steve Gelder commented “Legal and General control 5% of the UK stock market and have made a real commitment to reduce their waste sent to landfill, along with their carbon footprint and they should be commended for this.  Our ongoing investment and commitment to recycling and our close working relationship with Merlin has created this great opportunity and we look forward to working hard as a team to deliver Legal and General with the outcome they desire”.
