£250K a year partnership with local academy
Gelder Educational Training and Cordeaux Academy Louth have signed up a unique local partnership between education and industry, to help young people in the area who want to take vocational qualifications to a higher level. Looking to build the bridge between employment and education, the combined expertise within GET and Cordeaux Academy will help to achieve this. Looking to offer a mixture of traineeships, apprenticeships and intensive employability support this will be the first of a number of new partnerships with education establishments all designed to add the Gelder touch to employment focussed training.
With an initial 5 year contract GET will partner with Cordeaux in running The Wolds Centre and £2.5m “mini college” based in Louth offering a full range of Construction training in purpose built workshops along with running a 6 bay Vehicle and Plant maintenance training centre, teaching gym, as well as a host of IT, business and management training. The centre offers state of the art conference and exhibition facilities as well as class rooms and adult learning provision.
GET Work Based Learning Manager Richard Appleton commented “We now have the opportunity to work with the local community, business and education to maximise on student numbers and offer relevant pathways to employment for young people across the area”.
David Gates Assistant Vice Principal at Cordeaux confirmed an initial 20 apprenticeships will be offered in construction and motor vehicle maintenance, managed by GET and expanded as the partnership grew.
