The Only Way is BIM!

The Government’s mandate of the use of building information modelling (BIM) to level 2 on centrally funded projects by 2016 is having a significant impact across the SME sector.

As a result Major Contracts and Design have, over the last six months, been working towards becoming BIM ready in advance of the 2016 deadline and have appointed  ‘BIM Champions’. Design Manager Jon Cook and Operations Co-ordinator Stacy Skeates graduated the course in the House of Commons on the 16th February, surrounded by many 'Building Celebs' and the infamous 1966 World Cup Hatrick Scorer Sir Geoff Hurst.

BIM is essentially value creating collaboration through the entire life-cycle of an asset, underpinned by the creation and exchange of shared 3D intelligent models, with structured data attached to them.

Our BIM journey is well underway and our BIM Implementation Team (BIMIT) has met and gone through the Vision and Strategy to achieving BIM Level 2 Compliance by March 2016.
