Gelder Training successfully complete German Apprenticeship Exchange

Working in conjunction with Lincoln College, the Gelder Group was able to offer an exciting opportunity to Dirk Rowekamp a Joinery Apprentice from Munster in Germany.

Dirk worked alongside Lewis Deaton, Shaun Cass and Roy Haywood at Cherry Willingham School developing his joinery skills.  The exchange enabled Dirk to gain an insight into apprenticeships in the UK and for him to compare vocational practices and procedure to those in Germany.  Dirk was keen to state that he “was very excited being with the Gelder Group, especially working on a construction site.  He added the Gelder Staff have looked after me and it’s seems a great company to work for.”

Joiner Lewis Deaton has mentored Dirk throughout the exchange has been offered the chance of a lifetime on an exchange visit to work alongside Dirk in Germany in March 2011.  Mike Johnson Group Training Manager commented “Staff development at the Gelder Group is very important and rare opportunities such as these are valuable to staff progression.”
