Gelder Group Environmental Project Hosts Nesting Barn Owls
This photograph was taken by one of our apprentices inside the upper chamber of the Groups Owl tower and shows a parent Barn Owl incubating eggs. Note also the fresh kill; a vole which is a Barn Owls preferred prey item.Unfortunately a perished Owl can also be seen in the foreground. A harsh reminder of the 2010/2011 bitterly cold winter that took its toll on all wildlife. On a brighter note it’s truly fantastic news we are host to such beautiful birds so soon after having the GGEP opened only last Summer.Understandably it would be very appreciated if the Owl Tower could remain undisturbed and given a wide berth by any passersby.
Anyone interested in watching the birds (at a safe distance) feeding at dusk Simon Blaydes or James Hill a call 01427 788 837
