Gelder Group Launches Apprentice Training Agency

A prisoner in Lincoln has become the first inmate in Britain to be offered a paid apprenticeship.  The trailblazing partnership between HMP Lincoln and Gelder Group has been praised by Karl McCartney MP.

Mike Johnson, group Training manager said “It was a pioneering new project, it is the first time ever it has been done and we’re proud Gelder Group has been selected to pilot and manage it.  We will provide them with all the things they will need and help them prepare for when they are released.  We want to give them the best chance to find employment”

Karl McCartney MP for Lincoln said “This clearly is a milestone in the Gelder Group and the prison services’ development programme and all the more commendable insofar as the Gelder Group, I gather is the first company to take on a serving prisoner as an apprentice.  So well done to all those involved”

The launch of the ATA comes as Gelder Group prepares to take over a new training facility at HMP Lincoln.  Gelder Group will then become responsible for all training of inmates in the prison.
